Automobiles in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were notified by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.

A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
